Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) test targets mitochondrial DNA which is found in an organelle called mitochondrium and inherited directly to child from mother. By this way, it provides to understand whether there is a biological relationship from mother side. Samples are prepared easily by stirring cotton swabs to inside of the cheek by test participants and sent to the laboratory back. After taking required permissions from participants, results are ready in 14 workdays. It is compulsory to take permissions of official parents of under 18 years old children. Results cannot be used as evidence in courts.
